When it comes to Latina-based artists who are trying to push the limits of dubstep production, one name comes to mind from Denver, Colorado. She goes by the name of Green Matter, a DJ & producer who has been going at it strong since the year of 2019 with her consistent release of heaters. In today's dubstep era, the level of talent out there is constantly on the rise. This however, has only pushed Green Matter to continuously put out releases that always resonate with her audiences. Her most recent release, titled "Weightless", provides a beautiful yet equal blend of those gritty, nostalgic basslines we all grew to love while also telling a soft melodic story behind it. Now it's time to dive a bit deeper as to why we consider this track to be what we like to call, a certified bop.

“While writing Weightless, I found myself drifting into thoughts of the universe—endless, silent, and full of wonder. I imagined the feeling of floating in space, unanchored by gravity or earthly weight, free from all the noise of the material world. The drop in the song is meant to feel like that first breath in the void—when you're held by the stars. It’s a moment suspended in time, capturing the surreal and mysterious essence of the cosmos.” - Green Matter

DIVING DEEP W/ GREEN MATTER

1. Who/what are the biggest inspirations in the music you create today and why?

Lately, I’ve been really inspired by artists like Mersiv, Ravenscoon, Alleycvt, Sharlitz Web, Zeds Dead, and Tape B. Their approach to dubstep—balancing heavy sound design with emotional melodies and strong storytelling—really resonates with me. I find myself constantly learning from their work as my own production style continues to evolve. Their ability to keep things both powerful and beautiful is something I strive to capture in my music.

2. What would you tell your younger self today knowing where you’re at now and what it took to get there?

I’d tell myself to recognize my worth outside of my career achievements and to really nurture that inner sense of value. Nothing else matters if you don’t have that figured out… and to buy some Bitcoin lol.

3. What kind of impact do you wish to have on the scene 1–2 years from now with your project?

In the next couple of years, I’d love to see my project grow to reach a global audience, headlining tours, dropping albums annually, and curating unique live experiences. One of my biggest dreams is to one day headline Red Rocks, and I’m working hard to make that a reality.
